Hi Kathy. Though I am not a trained expert in this subject, one of my children has dysgraphia and another has been diagnosed with ADHD. We tried using different writing elements to help see if that made things easier (pens, pencils, mechanical pencils, and even computers). Some work better than others. For my dysgraphic son, typing was MUCH easier to get that information out of his brain and onto the tablet. Another son preferred a small notebook to loose leaf paper. Even the way the paper feels or is lined can make a difference. Others can write something better once they repeat information out loud. You can try that at home by giving them a bit of information or watching a short video, then have them tell you something about it. Ask them to repeat it again and THEN write what they just said onto paper (or even a few key words from their sentence). You are looking for progress not perfection at first. Also help them to understand that you are working with them to help them figure out what works best for THEM to complete this task. It is an exploration and a discovery. Make it like a safari for them. They are hunting for the way that is the "easiest" for them to get that information down.
I will pray for wisdom for you (and patience, too) as you navigate this! ~Sherri

These posts have been very helpful! I have two in high school, one in 2nd grade, and one in Pre-K. You did a good job of touching on how to introduce note-taking skills to little ones, and also how to build on that skill for the older ones. Thank you!

Hi Kathy,I am sorry, I have not. I am working on three big curriculum projects which have forced this on the back burner. If I ever do get this together, I will definitely share about it everywhere. Thank you so much for checking in. I really appreciate it.
